The Vice President of Zambia Inonge Wina joined the Honorary Consul Cherri Briggs on Monday the 19th of June to officially open the Direct Impact Africa Volunteer House. Approximately 450 - 500 people attended including the 150 members of the Honorary Consul's cooperatives, local authorities, teachers , health professionals, and government officials from Kafue and Chirundu. The Provincial Minister and Kafue DC also were in attendance.
It was a very enthusiastic crowd and highly successful visit. The Vice President made the rounds to visit many of the projects and spoke with great enthusiasm in support of the DIA program and Explore Africa’s efforts on National television. Her message was in support of efforts such as DIA in which private enterprise partners with government in efforts to enhance self sufficiency and alleviate poverty in rural areas.
