San Pedro, a community within Los Angeles, has dedicated a new park to Los Angeles Sister Cities. The ceremony was officiated by Los Angeles City Councilman, Joe Buscaino, former Councilman Tom LaBonge, and Chairman of Sister Cities of Los Angeles.
Consular representatives from each represented international city ceremonially raised the flags of their countries. Honorary Consul for the Republic of Zambia in California, Robert Sichinga Jnr, raised the Zambian flag. Lusaka has had a sister relationship with Los Angeles since May 1968. Next year marks a 50 year relationship between the two cities.
The new Los Angeles Sister City Plaza is located on Gaffey Street near the 110 Freeway.
